Explain your pet peeves. In other words, what bugs you the most? Why? Do you think it bothers other people as much as it bothers you? Why or why not?
I think my biggest pet peeve is hearing someone lie or be fake. I hate it because the person know’s he/she’s lying, you know the person’s lying, and soon you’re both caught in a middle of a lying-dimension or horror. It’s horrible. Sure, the truth hurts sometimes, but telling the truth or even not saying anything at all is the best thing to do. I hated ASB campaigning speeches and I’ll always hate them. It’s always “oh I have this quality and this quality and this is why you should pick me.” There’s no personality in that, no life. It’s so fake, like reading off a script or reading a persuasive essay with no voice, and I hate that. If something’s scripted, there’s no space to be natural, to be a person. It bugs me a lot, because if someone’s going to just lie to me or be fake then I’d rather save my time and go do something that’s actually productive, not manufacture what to say.
I’m not sure if it bugs people as much as it does to me. I know a lot of people don’t like the lying part, but I’m not sure so about the “being fake” part. A lot of people don’t realize it. Campaigning speeches have been done that way for a long, long time. People just read and read and read and talk and talk and talk like they’re robots.
